At the beginning of the summer when I still had lots of my student loan left over I did at bit of a splurge at Laura Mercier in John Lewis at Norwich. My mum swears by these products and I always trust her opinion so I decided to get some staple make up pieces that I knew I would both often use and would be of good quality.
*Also I apologise for the lack in quality of these photos! The lighting was awful and I didn't realise until they were uploaded onto my laptop so again very sorry!
My first purchase was the foundation primer - radiance. It gives off such a luminous look and just a subtle glow through your foundation that I have just fallen in love with it! You only have to put a really small amount on and it instantly brightens your face. They do recommend using their own foundation on top (obviously) but I always wear my trusty Benefit and it still works fab, and I have also been known to just wear this as my foundation base especially when going for a more natural look. This is definitely a product recommendation although it is a little pricey!
Next up is the Eye Shadow Primer. Now this is a product that I have never bought before as I really didn't see much point if you buy a good pigmented eyeshadow, but I have to say this is amazing and definitely does the job. I put this on before a night out as that when I wear most eyeshadow and it is still in place when I come home early hours! I will say that for the price and how much I use the product it isn't something I would rush out to buy again but definitely now something that I will aim to keep up just with other high street brands.
My next purchase was the Secret Brightening (setting) powder. This was something that I didn't really need but thought I would just give it a try as I knew my mum had used it previously and liked the product. I am not a lover of the really matte finish but I do like to blot away the shine which this definitely does do! It also leaves a lovely glow that can be really noticeable in some lighting so I make sure to use it as a highlighter when I'm doing a full face of make up. Would I buy it again? Probably not just because of the price and I like to shop around and try different things. It is great though!
I'm a bit of a sucker for black eyeliners and I have yet to come across one that I love sadly :( I had tried most of the high street ones and benefits They're real just didn't work for me no matter how hard I tried. So when I saw Laura Mercier had a powder liner I knew I just had to try it. As much as I loved the pigmentation of this, I didn't get along with the product at all. I was told it was smooth to apply and maybe a couple of time that's been true, but I've found it to be really tricky to get that smooth straight effect and it looks a little patchy. It's probably me just applying it wrong but I personally won't buy a powdered liner again for that price as I was a bit let down.
This is definitely my favourite product that I purchased and I cannot go on about this anymore if I tried to my friends and family! I'm relatively knew to the lip liner craze, in fact if it was for that infamous Kyle Jenner pout I probably still wouldn't use them, but now I see them as a staple. I picked up the colour clover as I love neutral tones as I feel they best suit my skin, as well as the fact they can also line the lips if you chose a bright colour so it's just a win win situation. As you can see it is looking a little worn considering I haven't had it much over two weeks but I do take it everywhere. It stops my lipsticks from running, it's easy to apply, it lasts for so long and I just love it. Definitely will be re purchasing. This leads me into my next purchase...
The perfect matching lipstick. My mum swears by these as they're long lasting and so creamy to apply... Which is true! I love this lipstick and it goes perfectly with the clover lip liner. I picked the shade Creme Coral but I also loved the Creme Caramel which was slightly lighter and had a more brown tone. If your looking for an autumnal nude that can be applied both lightly and darker for a more dramatic look, this is the one!
Having tried these products for a bit now I would definitely say that I love the Laura Mercier brand and need to go and try some more different things that I didn't pick up! I hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you guys have any LM recommendations.
