My New Years Resolutions!

Sadly I am one of those people who make all these resolutions and have forgotten them by the second week of January. However this year I am very determined to stick by them as much as I can, as they are things that I really do need to prioritise more. I now realise the importance of not aiming to big and expecting miracles to happen, so I have chosen some realistic resolutions that I can come back to this time next year and hopefully have stuck to! So with no further ado....

1. Spend less time on my phone
My phone is glued to my hand constantly. Even when i'm not using it, its
still there tight in my hand. I do already try and not have it at the dinner table and when I'm out with friends etc but I do slip up quite a bit, so I thought what better resolution to make than to limit my phone use. My main aim is to leave it in my bag when I'm with other company and only check it every now and again, same with when I'm out for dinner or drinks, just to leave it hidden and focus on the people I'm with and the other important things.

2. Be more active outside
I am not one for the gym. Classes I can do any day, but the gym just bores me and if I'm honest I don't feel that good for it afterwards like so many other people do. This year me and my friends decided to go on long speed walks every now and again and I realised that I really do enjoy it. Being in the fresh air whether its along the beach or in the woods, I just feel so good afterwards. For that reason alone I aim to do at least 3 outdoor activities a week, mainly walking but other things would be fun too!

3. Saying yes (and no) more often
Firstly, I know that I need to say yes to more things. I often miss out because maybe Im scared, or feel like I'm too busy, when in reality I really should be getting involved. So I am aiming to say yes to new adventures, opportunities and anything else that life throws at me. On the same note, I also am going to pluck up the courage to say no when I feel like its the right time, for example to people who push me about and situations where I am forced into things. Basically, Im going to be a lot more open and honest with myself and what I want

4. Make more of an effort
I am going to try to put effort into every aspect of my life, right down to the silly billy things within this coming year. I want to take the time to visit my family more as well as my friends and boyfriend, and going that extra mile to do it more often as I always have a great time and really do love spending time with them. I also want to put more effort into my work, my blogging (I know I'm a slacker at this), my appearance and last of all my health. These are all so important parts of my life that really do deserve that effort, and its time I sort that out.

5. Make amazing memories with my friends and family
I feel like the luckiest girl in the world when it comes to the friends, boyfriend and family I have, as 99% of the time Im laughing until I'm crying and my belly hurts. This new year I want to to make sure this stays the exact same way, but hopefully doing more different things and going to new places, and just generally creating fantastic life long memories. Whilst this last resolution is a bit of a 'given' I had to include it because its probably the most important one in terms of looking back this time next year.

So there we go! My five resolutions for 2016. I feel like they are all achievable and nothings to above and beyond, although they may be tricky at times. I didn't have that much of a good 2015, not for any particular reason but it just seems that looking back not much really happened, and therefore because of that I am going to make every minute of everyday count in 2016 and try to make it the best year yet. Let me know all your resolutions for the new year!

  1. Great resolutions.

I like the one about being more active outside - so many people start the gym in January then fail shortly after (by so many people, I mean me..). I might piggyback on your new years resolution and take up more outdoor activities than starting the gym.
