My morning and nighttime skincare routine!

One thing I love to read on beauty blogs is all the different skincare routines that everybody has. Not only has this introduced me to new products that I could try, it also pointed out those to stay away from and what isn't suited for my skin type. This being said, I thought I would share my routine in the  odd chance it might help one of my lovely readers who has the same skin dilemmas that I do!

Firstly, I have very dry skin, especially around my nose and onto my upper cheeks as well as above my eyebrows. This wouldn't be that much of a problem if it wasn't for the fact that if I use very dry skin specific moisturisers I become an oily mess! Finding the right products and getting the balance between the two has been hard, and so much money has been spent and wasted but I think I have finally found the cut... although I do still buy different products just to make sure (thats my excuse anyway!).

*Before I begin one thing I always like to mention to people is that I very rarely wash my face with water. Whilst some people are all 'thats gross', I have done so much research on this and it can be beneficial for dry skin sufferers to limit their water-on-the-face usage as when the water dries out... you guessed it, so does your skin! It can strip all your natural oils away and leave your poor face needing a good replenish, so for that reason I limited washing my face with water and used the first product mentioned below!*

Morning Routine

Firstly I cleanse my face with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water, which has been an absolute game changer in my eyes.  Even though I see this as more of an evening product, I do like to put some on a cotton pad and just give my face a rub over as it wakes me up and makes my skin feel so much fresher. As mentioned above I use this as a water replacement so I definitely go through the bottle more that the normal person, but as its so cheap I don't mind, and it still lasts for so long!

Next I use the Benefit Instant Comeback serum, quickly followed by the Triple Performer. I did a post  earlier this year on the serum (click here if you fancy a read) when I first purchased the product and was unsure on how to use it properly and what with. After a play around I found that a pea size amount before I put on some moisturiser works wonders, and my drink skin really has cleared up. I think this is helped my the triple performer moisturiser as with both being benefit they work together. The moisturiser is quite thin and probably wouldn't work so well alone, but it is perfect for days when i'm going to wear makeup; which lets face it is most days, and I find that it is easily absorbed into my skin and sorts out those dry patches! Both of these products are quite pricey but I will definitely be repurchasing as they work for my skin, and its very important to me to keep my skin healthy.

I follow this up by once again using a benefit product, which is the Its Potent eye cream. This product I find very good for sorting out those late night heavy eyes, and reducing the look of bags and dark circles. I wouldn't say I religiously use this everyday but I do try to remember it at least 3/4 times a week, and I can really notice the difference. This is definitely a recommendation for anyone who suffers from creases under the eyes or dark circles as it is amazing.

Lastly I use the The Body Shop Lip Butter, usually in Cocoa but I could find this on their website to link for you guys. I have a nervous habit of picking my lips and when I apply this it soothes and rehydrates them so much and makes me try and stop! Its so cheap at just £4.00 and last forever, so I always make sure to have one in my bag too. As well as this its also a great product for this time of year when the cold comes and cracked lips start to appear, as the lovely buttery texture really does sooth and nourish your lips.

Nighttime Routine

In the evenings I again use the Miceller water to cleanse my face and remove any makeup. I used to use face wipes, but about a year ago I changed to using the water and it has made so much of a difference. Not only does my make up come of so much easier meaning I don't have to really scrub my face hard, but I have also noticed that it leaves my skin feeling so much better, cleaner and well nourished.

Every few days I then use the Clinique Anti-blemish Solutions Oil. This is a god send when I am having a breakout as it really soothes the skin as well as unclogging all my pores. As gross as this may sound, it really helps to bring everything out (which you can sometimes really notice) and I often find that after rinsing it off all my pores are open and cleaned, leaving me with such soft skin for the next couple of days. I only use these every 3 days as i sometimes feel that masks can be overused and can end up doing more harm than good, but this is a product I swear by and continue to rave about to all that will listen!

Lastly I use the Liz Earle Superskin Moisturiser which is quite pricey at £39, but is really good for me and I would recommend this to dry kin sufferers alike. It is really thick and therefore I use it at night as I'm not a lover of thick moisturisers in the day, but it is quickly absorbed into the skin and it has made such an difference! In the morning my skin is feeling soft, refreshed and very nourished, with not a dry patch in sight! If I forget to use this I can definitely tell and have become quite reliant on the product so I may need to find a cheaper alternative, but it really is a miracle worker.

What products do you recommend? Im always looking to try new things and skincare is something I don't mind spending a bit of money on so let me know!

  1. Girl you are way ahead of the game! I've always meant to start a skin routine for myself, but it always ends up falling flat after like a week. I've been thinking of trying that cleansing water, I'll have to see if they have that in the US! I love The Body Shop, its my go to for lotions and stuff, but I've never tried their lip products. I will definitely test them out next time I shop there!

Stopping by to say hello from twitter!

    1. Liz Earle is amazing. You can get cheap sets in boots still I think, worth it if its just to try out as it can be a little pricey, which is a bummer if it doesn't work for you! Thank you for the comment, glad I helped. xx
